When I joined SMPS in 2006, I had no idea how much this organization would not only shape my career path, but also my own personal growth. The first SMPS event I attended was the 2006 Build Business conference in Hollywood. This is where I realized everyone at the conference was there because a) they were good at what they did and b) their companies wanted to invest in their professional growth. The energy was electrifying and I knew I was walking away a better marketer than I was when I arrived. That was my first SMPS moment. I believe many of my fellow chapter members can attest to having similar experiences. Whether you’re a long time member or a recent newcomer, we all have great stories to share about our experiences and opportunities as a member of SMPS.

As president-elect last year, I thought often about what I wanted SMPS Sacramento to accomplish during my term as president. How could I help lead the chapter to another great year and make our chapter even stronger for the future? What impact will our board make for our chapter and its amazing members? I want to accomplish this by maximizing the value of SMPS membership to all of our members. Every member will prioritize the value of SMPS differently based on their current needs. With that said, I am confident that one common value we share as members of SMPS is the enthusiasm in seeking best practices in marketing and business development to make meaningful impact with our firms and find leadership and professional development opportunities.

SMPS is unlike any other association, in that it truly caters to the needs of Marketers and Business Developers in the A/E/C industry. As members of the Sacramento chapter,  you can expect even more diverse events and programming as well as focused education workshops to support leadership and career development for your firms. With the support of our dedicated Board, I look forward to providing every member of SMPS Sacramento their SMPS moment.
